Cumbernauld Dog Training School

Welcome to Cumbernauld Dog Training School - Community Dog Management Service

So much more than just a dog training club!

Our obedience classes at Cumbernauld Dog Training School cater for dogs and handlers from Cumbernauld, Condorrat, Muirhead, Moodiesburn, Airdrie and all of North Lanarkshire, Scotland are suitable for all-comers, from first-time dog owners to obedience handlers, from children to pensioners, and you do not have to have a puppy to be able to start dog training.

We are different from your average dog training club. While you attend our obedience training you get far more than a 30 minute class once a week ........you will be entitled to email support, have full unrestricted access to our thriving web forum, be entitled to buy dog food at up to 40% discount

Classes are on Thursday evenings anall classes are taken by John Thomson who is a fully qualified WSCDTA dog obedience training instructor and a member of the Scottish Canine Consultative Council.

Our class sizes are restricted to a maximum of 12 dogs and demand is always high so please contact us to discuss the availability of a place.

Don't be driven barking mad by your dog or puppy.......bring them to school. Do you need behaviour advice? We can help with problems including including house training, aggressiveness, biting, nipping, chewing, barking, howling, pack order, pulling on leash, recall, sit, stay, down, focus, retrieve, dominance and a host of other issues.

We encourage reward based training with treats and praise but are not niave enough to believe that this approach will work for all dogs and can advise if leash corrections are appropriate however where necessary. A standard leash and collar of your choice are ideal for starting. As you progress you may wish to use a leather 'training' lead, these can be purchased from us. Flexi leads, chain leads and harnesses are not recommended for use in training class.

If you are interested in joining and a place is available, come up and see us with or without your dog. This gives us a chance to be able to speak to you without too much distraction, to introduce some of our training methods, and talk about any previous experience of dog ownership and training you may have, don't forget to bring your dogs vaccination certificate, we need to see this for all dogs that attend. .

When you bring your dog, depending on how the dog reacts to the surroundings (and some can be a bit wary!), you should be able to join a class straight away, but do bear in mind that your dog will probably not be totally at ease, so do not expect too much from him or her at first! Depending on the dogs age, experience and ability, we can advise which class would be best.

We also run dedicated puppy classes which cover owning, living with and training a puppy.
