Obviously important with a BC...because I want my house to stay intact 
I know I need to be careful with how many treats I am giving him  So far he is more responsive than my last BC which is great...follows me everywhere! Perhaps I should have called him Shadow?
I bought a wee puppy kong for Ash, but I have seen those cuboid things you can get. Should I bother buying one? One trainer with my last BC reccomended getting him one to occupy him when I am not there? |

Cassandra I would definitely recommend a pen for when you are out. Without any hesitation!!!!!!!!!!!!! Robert still isn't too keen for Mishka but he does understand why and sees the benefit to having one. Then have toys inside it. Mishka uses hers as a little sanctuary at times and seems to enjoy having a place to go where no one disturbs her. |

we have a bit under the stairs we have named the 'den'. We currently have a child gate on there, which is sufficient for now, but isn't high enough for an older BC.
We don't have room anywhere else for a crate or pen and that is doing a great job for now.
Ash is quite happy to go in there and he keeps all his chewy toys in there. It is a no human area, except for when I put his water in for him.
Its helping no end with house training |

We always leave the pen open to allow Mishka freedom to come and go but we lock it when we go out or at night.
Ours is in the kitchen. Totally overtaking it, the kitchen is half the size but worth the sacrifice of a few feet. |

we have our open all the time to it is mostly because that is where their watter bottles are and they go in there to get away from my three year old brother. 
we use it when we are out, at night or when we are eating. and some times if they are a little to exited when we have company.
i think it is a good idea for both dog and owner.  |
