Hi Lynn, there's been quite a bit of chat about that, many dogs get really upset by them, but like Ozzie, Diesel and Murphy like to watch them!
a few different things mentioned from playing CDs to DAP, look here.

It's a shame, I really feel for dogs at this time of year. |

So far... touch wood... Doogle seems to not be bothered by them. There were a few loud ones nearby last evening and he didn't take any notice. |

Lynn the DAP made a difference in our house last year, I would def consider one if you are having to drug for that amount of time. I always have a drawer of ACP at the ready too but def. last year the dap made the difference.
I never got round to ordering one this year and Misty is getting deafer in her old age but I may have to use the ACP on the main couple of nights
Just a thought, I am sure you can get the dap from the vets, I used to order mine online, but once you get it, you just get a refill after that, think it lasts 4 - 5 wks _________________ lurchers Pixel and Zev and whippet, Fen

We've heard a few fireworks.
I take Roxy, who was scared of them, outside when they're going off and give her treats and praise when they go off to show her that she has not to worry about them. I also have been giving her two Skullcap and Valerian tablets from Dorwest Herbs when she hears them.
So far, there is an amazing difference in Roxy this year, she is so much more relaxed and sleeps through them if she's in the house. Last year she was a wreck. She came to us in August last year, so last years fireworks with her were new to us.
You can read more about Roxy and fireworks on other threads on the forum, if you want to know more. |
