Hi,
Clumbers are the heaviest of the spaniels and about the height of a Springer. They are mostly white with very pale brown (lemon) or slightly richer brown (orange) markings. They usually have some freckles on their faces and some patches of lemon or orange over their bodies. (I know the terms lemon and orange seem a bit daft but I didn't make them up in the first place!) The males can weigh up to 35-38 kgs as adults and the females usually 25-30kgs. They aren't generally fat dogs just very heavy boned. They can be either working dogs (out in feild, retreiving and putting up game, or show dogs ). My two are pets first and foremost. It remains to be seen quite what Cuthbert , my 6 month old will do as he has an abundance of energy and enthusiasm which I feel should be channelled into something to keep him happy and fulfilled. Somehow I doubt very much if it will be showing as apart from anything else he won't stand still for more than a couple of seconds at a time and tries to eat anything and everything within reach. Clumbers have beautiful tempraments and are slow steady and dignified and kindly. They are not built for speed but more the slow steady pace of the day (great for long days out in the field). They have big heavy heads, with soft spaniel ears (though not as long as cockers' ) big browm eyes and soft velvety
lips /chops which when they shake their heads send allow "wallpaper paste" to decorate anything in the immediate vicinity. They are wilful, stubborn, opinionated, loyal, loving ,gentle , very funny and adorable. I'm afraid I'm just a touch biased. I don't know how to send pictures but if you are interested you could always look them up on Google. There are some lovely photos on there. I could go on but probably enough is enough. Gaelle |
