Do things gently, Tracy. My dogs are ex-abused cases. They still have to understand NO. Pack order is very, very important to uncertain dogs. The most re-assuring thing for an abused dog is to know that they are loved and that they have a specific place in their pack. Good luck.

I don't have any first hand experince of this but what I will say is give him time and reinforce the pack order with him. I'm sure if you are a confident and calm leader he will understand he is in good hands and will be a calm and trusting boy in time. Good luck

To this day and we have had Moya 5 yrs, she will still duck when I lift the brush to start sweeping the floor, other than that there is no other signs that she has been abused.

Just treat him normal, dont hang on to the past, just act natural and go about as normal, and he will come through...it takes time, Misty my greyhound wouldnt go near my hubby for almost a year, now who des she go to looking for cuddles....see Allan is a big softy really Very Happy
