Cuthbert seems to have developed an interest in trying to eat insects and flies so I think I'd better be prepared for him trying to eat a bee or a wasp. Only I can't remember the treatment for each. I think one was vinegar and one was baking soda but I can't be sure. Does anyone else know please? _________________ Happiness is watching my dog chase leaves dancing in the breeze. |

Gaelle, Diesel eats wasps regularly .......... it's never done him any harm. I asked the vet about it and he said if he'd had no immediate reaction after the first time he done it then he'd be fine..... apparently!
wasps = vinegar ..... I think. |

Wasp stings are alkaline, so acid neutralises it (i.e. vinegar). Bee stings are acidic, so bicarb for them. But good luck trying to get him to drink vinegar Probably not too safe anyway.
Either case, feed him ice cubes. It will reduce the swelling and numb the sting area. |

Ooh ooh I did this at school, and the easy way to remember it (for me anyway) was VW (as in Volkswagon) but also, cleverly, Vinegar-Wasps and (being in the Boys Brigade) BB or Bees 'n' Baking Soda!!! Ashley laughed at me when I told her this |

Thanks folks I'll remember VW and BB (I hope!) Chances are when he eats a wasp or bee (which knowing him he will!) he will have no adverse reactions but best be prepared anyway! Thanks again. _________________ Happiness is watching my dog chase leaves dancing in the breeze. |
