size zero's deadly. People should not be encouraged to believe that so thin is beautiful.
Thin is UGLY!
Children are children. Adults should look like adults.
I know that there are self-esteem issues involved but these must be addressed.

I was 5 stone 4 when I was 23 - that was because I had cancer. My body could not cope with so little weight. I found it hard to stand up never mind exercise. I complain about excess weight now but I would rather be as I am than back to 5 stones.

This used to scare me when Isaw pupils in school with anorexia. It can make you feel so helpless.

When I was younger a friend of mine suffered from anorexia. She was slightly overweight and went to weight watchers. It then escalated, she felt that life was uncontrollable but she could control food! This apparently is common side effect. Now 15 years later she suffers from the effects to her major organs which is frightening.

The best kind of dad Elizabeth. Just enjoy being yourself. All you young people looked great last night. The most important thing is to be happy with yourself. You are a beautiful person.

I agree, it's a horrible way to look, women are meant to have curves. It's sad that people do that, no chance of me doing it I love chocolatw way too much Laughing

People who suffer with a genuine eating disorder are not influenced by the media.

The eating order is about control and diversion.

They can't control elements of there life, but they can control their food intake or lack of depending on the symptoms of their eating disorder.

Also if someone is constantly obsessed by food, calories, weighing themselves etc, they can avoid dealing with the issues in their life that they cannot face.

Eating disorder patients are almost always compulsive in other ways and the disorder is often associated with self harming in other ways - often when the symptoms of the disorder are under control the compulsion can switch to compulsive shopping, binging, drinking, inappropriate sexual activity and cutting - the list goes on.

It is important to realize that bulimic or the compulsive overeater goes through the same emotional turmoil as the anorexic.

Although distressing, eating disorders are not always the worst thing, they can be a positive thing, a life saver in some circumstances. The person with an eating disorder has a coping mechanism which allows them to cope with life on a daily basis until they are ready to deal with serious issues.

A genuine eating disorder is NEVER a choice, it is serious mental illness

Kirsty I understand and completely agree with the rest of your quite but I have to say I don't agree with this bit the media is IMO a massive influence on how women and men view their appearance, it influences what clothes they buy what make up and perfume they buy and most certainly has many women aiming to be this elusive size ZERO. I think it is unfair to say that someone who is dieting to get to a size zero does not have genuine eating disorder just because they have been influenced by what they have seen in the media, it is a growing problem as many teenage girl and young women are aspiring to this size and what they eat and do to get to this weight is ridiculous they eat very little for example fruit and a very small amount of cereal for breakfast, salad with no dressing meat, cheese etc for lunch and a small piece of teamed fish and steamed veg for dinner nothing else that amounts to less than 500 calories per day NO WHERE NEAR ENOUGH TO SUSTAIN normal daily routines on top of that the exercise for about 2 hrs per day. It may not start out as a problem but as this kind of routine carries on it becomes an obsession and these women end up at weights of anything from 6 st to 7.5 st and for many it disrupts their menstrual cycle. Is that not an eating disorder???

sorry about the rant nothing personal K just putting my point across.
