Ha I wish!!!
Well allow me to introduce myself as I sure my dogs already have i.e Keano always crying and barking (only on a Tuesday night between 7.30pm and 8.00pm) and Coby probably lunging at your dog but trying to kiss you! Confused
We've been at class for 4 weeks now still trying to get to grips with being around different dogs and all staying focused!! Shocked
Everyone is welcome to try and help me understand my dogs and reinforce pack order!

Note to self...Never get two male dogs from the same litter!!! Embarassed

Hi Sheryl.

Try to keep focused. I know a few people with two males from the same litter with no problems.
Have you had any of the dogs neutered?

Have you tried taking one dog at a time to training?

Another trick is not to let either of the dogs sit above you or sit high on the stairs etc if you are talking to them.

Always try to be above them when talking to them.

Hope some of this helps.

Hi Sheryl!

I'm the person that spoke to you on the phone the night you called to enquire! Very Happy

John said there's an improvement in Keano, and Cody is the quiet one Wink Just stick with it and treat them like dogs and not babies, they'll get there. You'll relax too which will help them.

Keep up the struggle Sheryl, it's worth it!

Hi Sheryl,

Marcella is so right about not treating them like babies.

Robert finds this really difficult to do and I am always harping on about it. I've seen the results of dogs being treated like babies and in the long run personally think it isn't fair on the dogs.

They definitely respond much better to having boundaries.
Persevere at class. you will be surprised at the results. Honestly! Very Happy

Hi Debroah,
Thanks for replying!!!
Originally we went to the vet thinking both dogs were going to get done and the vet said because Keano is the more dominant one leave him and only get Coby done. So that's what we did going on his advise! But now we're not sure if that is a good idea because when we're down the park, they always come back however if Keano does go near a female dog(or male to be honest) he tries to mount them!
The dogs sleep in the kitchen at night and are not allowed up the stairs during the day due to when they were puppies they used to mark their territory everywhere, and haven't been allowed ever since!!
They are both in the same class with John the puppy one at 7.30-8.00.

Marcella,
If it hadn't been for speaking to you that night, both dogs would prob be at the dog rescue centre!! So Thank you soooo much for being there and listening!!
Keano is a nightmare, but much better than week one!! Coby on the other had s such a little bratt, he's really good at class and really quiet etc and at home he winds Keano up something awful! (Just like little bro's do I suppose!) Unfortunately its Coby that is alot more likely to...
a) Snap, growl be aggressive at other dogs
b) Start a fight with Keano
c) Bite Chris or I
But again this is getting better due to Chris and I learning as well and the dogs!
Thanks again Marcella, Im sure the dogs will thank you as well! Very Happy

Hi Sheryl,

Do you keep the dogs in a pen or pens ?

I would definitely recommend that. It gives the dogs their own territory which no one else goes in to.

That may help too.

No they don't have anything like that at all. Just their beds.
Chris and I did look at them when we first spoke to john but unfortunately at the moment we don't really have enough room in the kitchen for them, which is a shame, but will definitely keep that on in mind, when, if we move!!!

We don't have room either!
Our kitchen is a fraction of the size and it blocks off a door but it's worth the sacrifice.

Thanx for the support, Im sure we will get there eventually! Very Happy
They had a fight the other night and it was nothing to what they used to fight like, infact keano just barked in Coby's face and Coby backed right off and Keano walked away as if to say Im not even wasting my time on you!
So they are getting there slowly but surely!!!

It was actually good to see one of them taking a stand to the other!!
But we're certainly not going to get complacent, class every week without fail!!!!!
If only I could train Chris!! Rolling Eyes He's a nightmare with them sometimes so so anxious with them and no matter what we've tried he cant seem to relax even when there just playing!!
No wonder they look at him as if he's crazy at time!! Laughing

Eleanor,
I'm not joking Ive watched it about 5 times and she is very good but some of the things she does/shes are diff from what John or other people have said so, we're taking a bit of this a bit of that and hopefully trying to make it work for us.
I'm enjoying learning and so are the dogs they try so hard to please in the house, where as before they couldn't have cared less!!!
I'll have no hair by the time I'm 22. ha ha
Again thanx for all your help and support!!!
