Hi Evryone,

Just wondering what the best type of treats to use with nevis, using pedigree treats at the moment but think they give him a bit of wind (stinky), heard a few few people using hot dogs, what kind and would these be suitable for a westie.

thanks

In the training class environment then the best treats to give are easy to eat non crunchy type of treats. That's why hotdogs are a favourite choice. The smell keeps the dogs attention and when they eat them they are easy to eat without leaving crumbs on the floor to distract other dogs!!! Smile
We just buy the cheap tinned hot dogs from Tesco.......... they do the trick.
Other options would be cheese or liver cake! Janis makes homemade liver cake (by far the healthiest option!!!!) and sells it by the bag at classes. Smile It's made with liver, flour, garlic, eggs and oil. No artificial ingredients. It's healthy and the dogs go WILD for it! Very Happy

Still to find a dog that doesn't like it!
If you fancy making it yourself the recipe is up here on the forum ........... if you do a search you'll find it. But it does stink the house out! Janis is weird - she likes the smell so she makes it by the bucket load for all us folk who can't bear to make it!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

How much is it for a bag? Might be an idea to get Tilly some too. Something spooked her in last weeks class and she tried to run away. would do anything.

I can vouch for this stuff. ALL dogs go wild for it. If you take it on a walk you end up like the peid piper, only it's dogs following you!!
