Hiya - was wondering if anyone had any useful tips.
Our wee 13 week westie pup Meg is not liking going out for her walk first thing in the morning. Before you get to the gate she has her bum on the ground, claws dug into the pavement and will not budge - you literally need to drag her to get her to walk. She is like this for about 5-10 mins and then starts to perk up and enjoy herself. We try to get her attention but she is just having none of it. Only seems to be the morning walks that we have the most problems. |

i had this on a few occasions when Giles was a pup. It was more to do with the weather though. he doesnt like the rain if hes going on a short walk.
Try taking his fav toy out with you. he'll eventually get into the swing of it _________________ want to see the animals in my life?

Dont take no for an answer, YOU decide when you go for a walk. If you allow the dog to start dictating to you at that age you are opening up a can of worms. _________________ Parsons Russell fanatic |

Aye, definitely don't let her decide, ignore her demands and keep walking, she'll soon realise |

Try combining both bits of advice keep walking and take her favourite toy to distract her. You must be the pack leader from day 1.
Once she gets the idea she is going somewhere interesting she'll be fine. _________________ Regards,

Thanks everyone for the good tips. Meg has come on great in the last couple of days - today was the first morning that she didn't resist too much and she seemed to enjoy herself. This has happened at the same time as her house training has got better so we are hoping that everything is starting to fall into place now. Fingers crossed it keeps up. |
