Ok....so...

First of all... LOL @ Pheobe Laughing Can't believe you have disclosed the fact you dont lock your door... crazy woman!! haha. (I do see where you are coming from though).

Second.... so are we agreed that it is best to crate train the little pup and get her used to being in it... and it being a positive, happy thing, and keep the crate in the kitchen and door open when I am around, but door closed on the crate (and still in the kitchen) while I am out? Our kitchen is not that large so I would like to hope she wouldn't come to any harm, but silly things worry me.... like....
It is a wooden floor, and if she were to run she could slip and injure herself, or fly into one of the units Shocked
Can you tell I'm a new doggy mum??? Laughing Embarassed

Best go before my imagination runs wild

Yes, it's actually far safer putting the puppy in the crate with the door closed when you are out of the house, or if she's left unsupervised, imo, as puppies can get into all sorts of puppy mischief! In time, she will also feel more secure being let in the crate with the door closed when she's home alone, as a whole room can be daunting for a wee puppy!

I'm sure with a bit of common sense and all the advice you're being given you will be a great first time dog owner. Smile

how long have you not locked your door for

Just what I was thinking, Kendal!! Shocked Phoebe, you are mad! Wink Laughing I'm sure a locked door wouldn't put firefighters off getting into the house!! They are trained to smash down doors and windows! Laughing Don't worry. Smile

Phoebe, you're not the only one who doesn't always lock doors Embarassed I'm not very good at remembering to take a key so I've been locked out once or twice Embarassed

Janice, i'm one for forgetting my keys aswell. Laughing Although I haven't forgotten them in ages! My other granda has a spare key, as does a friend of mine for when I lock myself out! Laughing

Phoebe lock your door, the fire brigade got into my house without damaging my doors or windows and never had a key, luckily we had laft a window open, though it is the upvc ones that locks open just a wee bit, I have no idea how they got it open to get 4 big firefighters in but im just thankfull they did

That sounds really scary, Shirley.

Was there much damage?

Mandy's breeder had a fire at their house near Mearnskirk, - they came home one Saturday night (they were a couple miles from anywhere) and found their house had burned down. They lost a min schnauz bitch and her litter too.
