Hi everyone hope you are all well, I have just ordered myself a Pawtrekker scooter to take the boys scootering and I'm all excited about it I can't wait, we have been jogging and they are picking up the commands really quick, I should have my scooter by Tuesday but Kain goes in to get nutered on Thursday so that'll hold us back a wee bit, as soon as we get going I'll post some piccies as long as I don't break a leg first lol _________________ paw prints on my heart |

Any type of breed of dog can pull the scooter a dog of 40lb can pull an adult 150 / 200lb, 2 jack russels can pull together, its a great idea for extra excersise We should all get one ! You may well see us in the glen mushing some time soon I think I'm gonna try the canal paths first the boys find the canal walks quite boring so with the scooter at least they have sommit to do...You can get a scooter from Mission cycles for 125 quid but they don't have the brush-bow on the front so theres more chance when the dogs slow down the line gets caught, I tried to find a brush-bow seperate but mission cycles had'nt even heard of it ! Thats why I have went for the Pawtrekker. _________________ paw prints on my heart |

looks like fun, yeah we are hopefully going to get something like this for Koda when he is older, although if i am ever doing it i would get the 3 wheel rig thing, i have no balance what so ever we are trying to take Koda out on the bike at the moment, getting him used to running, just round the block, nothing to far. but for a husky he doesnt want to pull, lol, just runs along beside you, i'm sure he will get there eventually. he loves running though, took to it straight away, although in top gear it showed you the huskys doing the toilet while running, Koda just suddenly stops so no proffesional husky yet |

Kerry,
I'm no professional on Siberian Huskies, however, I remember watching something where they were training Huskies. To encourage the Huskies to pull they put a well fitting, secure harness on the dog and applied gentle pressure to it by pulling it slightly, a bit more pressure each time whilst trying to entice the dog to run. They built the dog up over a period of time and the results were amazing, they started off with small carts and put heavier items in the cart as the dog got stronger. I can't remember what the programme was called, I think it was on Animal Planet well over a year ago.
There was also a bit on Dog Borstal a couple of months ago where they were explaining the training by pressure on the harness for a Sibe. |
