lol, ok bit of a strange question... but Holly has started humping her toys... she has a little reindeer we got her for christmas and I swear... you should see her go!!!!
Does that mean she is in season, at just under 5 months??? I have no clue! I thought only male dogs humped things...
She's really ruining the 'cute, innocent' look hahaha.
Or am I just worrying over nothing, and its actually a dominance thing??
PS: Its a very handsome reindeer lol _________________ Ashley with Holly & Murphy.

koda liked to hump his butterfly, pretty much since 10 weeks old but he is a male he has calmed down now, although we did take away butterfly and any toy that took his interest. |

it's not a sexual thing ................... it's a dominance thing! If she tries to hump you then it's more of an issue as you'd need to let her know you are the boss.
As for gypsy .......... ......... she's definitely telling murphy she's boss!
.............. it is really funny when it's a wee puppy tho |

they do that with pandas. they have panda porn to get the males in the mood, as they are finding it hard to get them to breed when in captivity. _________________ microchiping and grooming www.chipnclip.co.uk

It's not funny when you have 25kilo of muscle doing it to you! But it was my fault - he has only done it twice when I was playing with him on the floor. He's never done it to anything else - apart from a big male lab who didn't seem to mind!!!!!
I thought it was behaviour you had to correct - even if it was on an inanimate object or is that just with males? I remember the Dog Borstal show when the lab had a "humping bunny" - the cure was to just remove the bunny and stop him doing it, whereas the woman had just let him get on with it. |

it's one of those things that always makes me laugh. Especially when I see the likes of Keano (very small terrier with a BIG boy attitude) try to mount and hump Daka the Ridgeback!!!! |

Yes what do you do with a puppy who always tries to hump you and does NOT take NO for an answer no matter how sharply you push him away? He usually only does it if I'm at floor level talking to Rosie with my back to him (i.e. at my most vulnerable). When I sharply push him away he comes back worse. The only thing I've found so far is to try to get up and totally ignore him!! He hates being ignored as much as I hate being humped!!!

Gaelle he is showing his dominance over you. Cuthbert is a strong boy and you NEED to be firm with him in everything you do. He is ruling the roost in your house and you MUST get back control.

Yes I understand that but I feel that I am pushing him off sharply and ignoring him, it should be enough to deter him but it doesn't, even giving him a sharp dunt doesn't help. He still comes back for more and gets vocal sort of growly but not snarling if you know what I mean. I don't want to make him scared of me and I'm worried I'll dunt him too hard and do some damage to him. |
