Looking for some advice from raw feeders please. Our 7 week old pup was weaned on raw and I'll be continuing with this of course.
However at the vets today it was "strongly recommended" that I also feed one meal of dry puppy food "to ensure he gets enough calcium".
Surely there's enough calcium in bones? - he had his first chicken wing last night and really relished it. Obviously I want to do the right
thing for him, but my confidence is now waning a little. I switched Lucy to raw when she was about 10-11 weeks old and she seems to
have done alright.
Any advice welcome. |

Echo was on raw from 8 weeks old, i add egg shells to their food which i have crushed into almost a powder. then mix it in with their food.
some people just give them the full egg but i think that would have to be outside because of the mess lol iv not tried it yet. _________________ microchiping and grooming www.chipnclip.co.uk

Thanks for that Kendal. I do occasionally give Lucy a whole egg which she eats including most of the shell, though for some reason she's not that keen on crushed egg shell on its own. So does this mean that dogs can't utilise the calcium in bone? That's really what I'm trying to find out. Otherwise, what's the point in feeding raw meat and bones? |

yeah they do get calcium for the bone, like the chicken wings, ribs. i think they get it from the marrow bones as well. its just a little extra i add. _________________ microchiping and grooming www.chipnclip.co.uk
