Very Happy Laughing Finally (THANKS to John) I know how to say hello. I am great fan of the forum and wanted to do this for so long. I have
Bear a 2 1/2yr old Newfoundland and Tala a Northern Innuit who is 7 years old. Bear goes to the Tues night classes although not been for a while due to work comitments, the other one unfortunatly can't as she's overly protective of us and doesn't like anything near me or Bear. Hope all goes well with new classes and am upset I won't be able to join but Bear does water rescue training on a Sunday - big hairy version of Baywatch!

Hi Jenny. Hope you and Bear are doing well. Bear will love the water stuff. Trish's Newfie has been teaching Basil about water. He kept wanting to swim in Broadwood Loch yesterday even though it was frozen.

Thanks to you all, Bear has been going to water training for 2yrs now and loves it as he can play with other dogs (although when he get's too excited lately he thinks he's a stud dog) and they don't all bark at him as others are big too. He would love the ferret Shirley as he is such a big sook and just wants to play all the time. lorna if I remember correctly Basil has/had a skin problem on his back, if he is in Broadwood Loch you may want to keep an eye on him as there is alot of algae in the water there and it irritates the dogs skin as well as yours. Where we do the water training the water is tested and if algae is present dogs aren't allowed in!

Kendal there are 5 levels they are tested at see the kennel club site for rules, Think this year I will try and take him to England and try for the actual tests. Mostly he goes to meet other dogs and just have fun, as those who have met him know he just wants to play and meet everyone and be liked! He can do level 1 and 2 with ease but being a couch potatoe at heart when he is in the boat doesn't want to leap out (hilarious to watch) so will need to practise more on this to reach level 3 and above. Some great footage on you tube of newfies water training even leaping from helicopters! Sometimes if you have goals to reach it spurs you on but even if we don't go the serious route it's great fun and he LOVES it so much, bit like training classes.
