A friend from Lancaster phoned this morning to say that his neighbors puppy had tragically died on Monday afternoon.

His neighbor had left their Chocolate Labrador Puppy in the kitchen whilst collecting the children from nursery.

The neighbor returned after 20 minutes to find the pup dead as he had got his head stuck in a Wellington Boot and consequently suffocated.

Please do not leave puppies unsupervised!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of Kennels will not accept Puppies primarily due to the damage to premises that they may cause and the high level of supervision required.

At Four Arches we will accept puppies (if known to us)(or after an overnight stay trial) but depentent upon what other dogs we have in residence and at quiet times due to the constant need for safety supervision.

Oh that's really sad! Sad
Poor wee puppy, that's just horrible. It must have been so distressed.

Some people think crates are cruel ............ here's a great example of how a crate would have been a lifesaver.

puppies are babies, I wouldn't leave my baby unsupervised unless I had him in a safe place like his travel cot of cot.
Which is why Ash has his Den. That is his bedroom.

I don't understand what problems humans have with crates when they put babies in cots, from a babies perspective the cot has bars on the widows! lol

Robert was sceptical when I pushed for Mishka to be in a pen but he has definitely seen the benefits.

I doubt if I would ever have a dog without a pen.

Tragic story.

Though any puppy owners would need to be quick to get a place booked in your pad!!!!

I've tried three times - but never knowing much in advance when we need to kennel our two 'boys' I have never been lucky (and also need to kennel in the winter months)- I was really keen to get them in to yours as you like German Shepherds and not all kennels do.

Luckily found alternative kennels we are happy with at last.

Keep up the good work!

you wouldn't think that the kitchen would be a harmful place to leave your dog, but i guess its easy to forget about such a simple thing as a welly boot. i don't remember the first time we left gypsy on her own bout i know that we didn't have a choice about the cage for our two and i had grown up with my mums dogs having there cage so i don't think it accord to me that it would be any different.

what a really upsetting story

poor puppy, it doesn't bare think about what he must have gone through

and his owners will be distraught

I will share this story with each of my Puppy Classes, so hopefully it will make the owners more aware of what can happen

I used a puppy pen for mine when they were puppies and I couldn't be there, these are really good and give more freedom than the crate

Crates are very useful but can easily be abused in the wrong hands (like so many things)

Marie, thanks for sharing and making us more aware
