The team that come up from Loughborough are really good, they shave a small 2" patch from your dogs kneck to get the needle in the jugular, all done by their vet BTW.

It takes just 6 mins or so to give the donation, afterwards the give your dog a meal, a goodie bag, and a toy, usually a ball, and they get red bandanas like this to hide the bare patch. Wink

Oh I'm so proud of em. Laughing Laughing

once yoda is 1 yr old i will defo get her registered up. Being a nurse i know how important it is to give blood. I can imagine it is even harder to get donations from dogs.

Thanks for the link

oh look at those lovely boys with their bandannas on!

Leon is too wee to do it... which is a shame. But if I had a bigger dog I wouldn't think twice.

I wanted to give blood to, but they refuse to take it cos I carry an epipen - i think they consider it too risky in case I take an allergic reaction to something Sad

I tried tho! I know how important it is.

The blood donor session is fully booked for Saturday. Basil has the last appointment at 7.45pm.

However, they are impressed by the number of owners in Scotland who are willing for their dogs to become donors and will be back up here in 2-3 months again. If your dogs is healthy, over 1yr ( 18months for giants like Danes) and 25Kilos please register with them so that your dog can give blood next time. They are considering doing 2 days rather than 1 day next time here.

Would definitely be interest in taking Kai along the next time they are in Scotland as he'll be one by then. I can't give blood either and I always feel slightly guilty about it so this might help make up for it Laughing
