Just wondered if anyone can help me get Star to Jump! He will jump on to things just not over them. My neighbors think I'm crazy happy6 I spent most of the weekend trying to get him to jump over my brush that I had placed on two stools! I ended up jumping over it myself trying to show him what I wanted him to do. He just looked really embarrassed and walked straight back in to the house!

Any suggestions?!

Laughing

That's what I did with my Westie to encourage her to jump!

Start by getting him to step over the brush pole while it's flat on the ground, and gradually heighten it a bit, depending on how quick he gets it.

Plenty of praise and a treat when he jumps (or steps) over it.

Good luck! Smile

yeah that's how i started my two.

can i ask either Nicola or carol, because you both do agility. if it matters what side your dog is on (left or right) when they jump because Inca wont jump unless she is on my right. Gypsy is fine she will jump on any side.

It doesn't matter *officially* what side you are on when the dog is doing the jumps. However, depending on what way the course is set and how you approach the jump, you may find it easier if you take the inside of an agility course.

The dog must always enter the weave poles with it's left shoulder, whether the dog is on your right ride or your left.
