Ashley wish i had known that when we caught shadows nail (black nails you can't see the quick)
I thought poor lad was going to bleed to death, the vet told us to wrap it put a sock on then a plastic bag and leave it for at least 3 day's, we were so concerned after 2 day's we took it off guess what ?? it started to bleed again, so we cleaned it all up and repeated the process and did as we were told it was fine, couldn't believe how much blood came from it, and the good chap never touched it to try to take it off. sorry waffling now

Bike ride round Strathclyde Country Park keeps Otto's nails down - just as well as it's the one thing he really objects to.

his nails are fine - he gets plenty of walkies - it is his dew claws that are bothering me... hoping to get them done today.

Ah right - he'd have to be running pretty funny to get them down haha.

Though he had them removed with his tail by the breeder - poor boy.

thanks for the clippers margaret... worked a treat...

took a wee bit off of each nail (maybe 3-4mm) just to see how that went... so I'll try another wee bit now...

Just want to be careful I don't take them too far in, but I've no idea what length they are supposed to be!

thanks kendal...

Leon has one black and one white dew claw, so I will do the white one first, and take my lead from that... it says "Cut the toenail to within approximately 2 millimeters of the quick"

I'll hvae a go!

hey kendal,

that was really helpful - I could see the "quick" in the white nail like it showed on that page... managed to take loads of... the nail was really long when you had a proper look at it.

And just took the black nail down to about the same length, but using wee gradual cuts, just to be on the safe side.

Ta mucho!

Job's a good'un!

Well done, Linsey. That's some cash in your pocket instead of the vet's. Smile
