Basil is in the vets. He has bloat. He is sedated, being treated and we are trying to avoid operating. Ian Shillingham has been great phoning every hour to update me on Basil's progress.
Please keep all fingers and paws crossed over the next 24 hours.

Thank you, Shirley. He didn't even complain when I left him - so not like old Velcro.

Oh God Lorna, you must be worried sick. Of course I'll keep everything crossed and anything else I think of I'll do. I wish you the very best and if there is ANYTHING I can do please let me know.

Thanks Lindy.
He is still sedated. The gut is damaged but cleared for the moment. The vets are passing large amounts fluids through his system and he is not accumulating them in his gut which is a good sign. he had a catheter fitted. The gut torsion is still likely to recur in the next 24 hours so he is being monitored for any signs. If there are any, then he immediately be operated on.
Otherwise, the decision on whether to operate will be made at 8.30am tomorrow.
