Aye if only I realised that I was an animal...am off to have a biscuit because I'm bored.

Who needs weightwatchers, just go for the Dog Diet - 300g of james wellbeloved twice a day, 2 dog biscuits and add a bit of chicken on a sunday! And run everywhere if you are outside.

Think thin, think dog!

Or maybe I just get Ian to control my food Twisted Evil

LOL! Yeah... I'm gonna send that one to my WW leader, she will appreciate that! Very Happy

You forgot the other golden rules tho:

1. if it moves, hump it
2. if it doesn't move, hump it

I reckon it would be a happier life.

what your dog eats should all come down to basic common sense .. unfortunately .. common sense ain't that common
different breeds have so many different characteristics and its not always clear if they are overweight .. this leads to confusion in their food intake .. everyone looks at pixel for example and thinks poor skinny wee thing .. but as a lurcher she really is carrying too much weight.. it may only be a few pounds .. but if she was in working condition she may well be the same weight or heavier ... but it would all be muscle

as Suzanne said .. a good rule is feel all their ribs and shoulders without them protruding .. but remember muscle is more dense than fat and may lead to a heavier dog ... (like leon).. who looks fat .. Smile

A lot of the problem has to lie with the Kennel Club who set "Breed Standards" for a lot of dogs which in a lot of cases makes them fat. A point in case was Cuthbert recently as you may recall when a show person told me he was very underweight, which he isn't . He is lean, healthy and fit. That same person very recently told me he should be at least 12 lbs heavier. Not a chance! She can't understand (as some people can't ) that to "bulk up" a dog equates with fattening them up. She also says not to give him more than 2 short on lead walks a day otherwise he will get too tall and leggy and definitely not to let him run about outside! All because he won't meet breed standard if I don't! For some people breed standard is set in stone and (certainly for Clumbers at least) these standards totally wrong leading to a lot of overweight dogs who can't run about and enjoy themselves!
