Well... Looks like I'll be moving to Oban in November. I've been allocated to the Oban Police Office. I'm quite happy, it looks beautiful up there, but it's a bit scary at the same time. I've tried to find infos about dog walking and dog clubs up there, but I haven't found anything so far. Does anybody know Oban? Are there nice places to walk your dog and is there a dog club? Any info would be greatly appreciated. _________________ x

Oban is gorgeous - i go there at least 2 or 3 times a year.
I was there a couple of months ago surveying Oban Sherriff Court . Like most of the other courts they are joined to the police station.
As far as dog walking goes a quick 10 minute walk up a steep hill to the McCaig's tower is probably a good wee start. |

Lucky you!
I love Oban.
My Mum has a caravan in Inverary so when we are up for any length of time we head to civilisation (Oban)!
One of my favourite places in Scotland |

Lucky you moving to Oban.
We went there on holiday with Dale last year and there were plenty of walks. I even found somewhere to walk him right beside the big car park as you go into the town.
Even in July a lot of people walked their dogs on the beach in the town centre and there's McCiag's folly in the town as well.
If you go to Benderloch there's a nice little beach that only seems to be used by dog walkers as well as forest walks.
I can't give you details but I did notice a poster advertising a dog training club too.
I'm sure you'll like it up there. _________________ Janice and Dale |

Thanks everybody. I'll probably go up there with Jaws asap to see what it looks like. Hopefully he'll like it up there and make plenty of new friends. _________________ x

Lucky you
I used to work up there with my aunt in the fishermans mission which used to be on the pier.
some of my family lived in kilmore 3 miles out and in Dalavich on loch awe about 14 miles out. Kilmore has some great walks
congratulations on this fantastic posting!!! when you were at the training school did you come accross an instructor Yuannee Stuart, or Staff Stuart to the recruits? she's my mate and joined the training team recently. _________________ "In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog." |
