Bear is now down to 2 legs still not really putting weight on right front & although wanting to go poo in his usual spot he was managing. Then last night he was lying in the garden & when he went to get up he was very distressed and lame on back left leg! Thought it was cramp as he's been lying on the 1 side for a week & he's not the lightest. Also 1 of the toes on back foot was raised up. Massaged leg for ages and he seemed to settle but he's done again this morning after his morning pee.
Will see how he goes as day goes on hopefully not need vet today & will be able to wait till tomorrow but do any of you have any ideas, of what it could be, what I can do for it. As you can imagine it is hard enough helping him on 3 legs but 2 not sure we/he can manage!!!!! |

Jenny,
It MIGHT just be that his back leg is sore because he's been applying extra weight and pressure to it because he can't put any on his poorly front leg. The massaging is an excellent idea, keep that up when you notice he is sore and (I know you will anyway) but make sure you tell the vet about this when you see him/her tomorrow. Also it might help if you put a hot water bottle (wrapped up in a towel if you haven't got one with it's own cover) and apply that to the affected leg it will help sooth and un-knot any muscles that might be spasming due to the extra pressure he's been applying to it.
Good luck & let us know how he gets on, I'm keeping everything crossed for you both.x. _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |

Glad he is a bit better, Jenny. A wheat pad which you can heat up and apply may help. Massage is a very good idea. That should help relieve stiffness, if that is what it is. I hope he can cope until Monday when hopefully you can get some answers from the vet. Thinking of you, hugs, _________________ Regards,

Bear is improving but still has long way to go! The vet he saw on Mon said they didn't think he'd make it through Thursday he was so ill They are saying that there was no external cause of abscess but want him to recover fully before further tests. Wound is still leaking gunk & he's still limping but is slightly better. Next check up is Wednesday. Will update after that. Fingers crossed he continues to improve & gets back to normal self. |

Bear had check up & vets are not happy that he's still lame although he was a much happier doggy on Wednesday, all be it on 3 legs libido is returning . He has got more pain killers/anti-biotic and has to go back for another check up on Friday. If he is still limping then he's to go back in next week for full anesthetic, X-rays & tests! |

i am pleased that he has found his libido again and hope his tail is back to wagging and a glint in his eye!.......yes we all want him on four healthy legs...................but surely having him a bit more lively again is a step in the right direction!
keep us informed jenny and i hope you are feeling less fraught! _________________ Cockapoo's...a little of this, a little of that..........
