It's so dark where I take Buddy for walks just now that when he goes in amongst all the bushes it is very difficult to see him - and when he spots a rabbit he bolts after it and I lose sight of him completely.

I'm depending on him to return when I call him with a bit of liver cake in my hand - which can be a bit of a hit and miss affair.

I saw a dog (not the owner - otherwise I would have asked) the other night with a dead cool (as in effective) flashing neon collar - it looked like a bow tie.

Anyone recommend anything similar? The brighter/stronger the better as I am thinking of his safety rather than it looking cool.

Thanks

Colin

Dexter (Ann, John, JJ and Kyle's dog) has a flashing neon hoop that goes around his neck. Can't remember where Ann said she got it but i'm sure she'll let you know if you send her a message. Dexter's is very COOL and definitely ideal for his safety.

i have a flasher for yoda as she is brown and you cant see her at all at night. Pets at home sell a lot of things for visibility at night. So does acorn in Cumbernauld.

Our two have hi vis vests/jackets... Got them out of poundland and I believe they are the exact same ones as you get in pets at home... Have them up to an XL which fits our rottie fine Smile

Interesting - I would never let Otto off the lead at night. He gets on lead walks rounds the streets.

I wouldn't feel safe going anywhere that wasn't light enough to see him - even with Ian!! But then our options are either street or pitch black countryside. Where do you guys go?

i would have to agree with Suzanne, i only let meg off if it is light enough for me to see her. With her being a spaniel it is head down tail in the air and sniff sniff away she goes.

i have seen flashing neon collars in Acorn pets.

I'd be scared of my own safety and getting jumped out at night in places too dark to see the dog - probably by Ian right enough Laughing

We got our flashing neon hoop from the Trophy van which delivers his food. Have also seen them in Russels the pet shop in Muirhead. Thanks Corinne I do think he looks great as well.

Suzanne St was telling my mum the other day that someone tried to walk away with one of her girls at Broadwood Loch. Albeit, I dont suppose that it was later on at night... but that worries me most.
Holly and Murphy have flashing collars, but i still like to keep them close by incase someone steals them! Especially Murphy... he's everyones friend, so i usually have him on an extendable for late night walks.

I got my collars from ebay. Smile

I got my collars from ebay too. Kai isn't too bad because he's white but its a nightmare with Riley in the dark so flashing collars are a must.

Im out with my lot on a dark path near here at home, but its away from the road so although I can hardly see them they do this walk regularly and know where they are going so I dont mind them off lead. Isnt that scary about Suzanne St's wee dog...think I would be fine, Luka wont go to anyway, just barks and im sure no one would be stupid enough to try to steal him Twisted Evil neither will Pixel go to folk she doesnt know when out walks

I will need to get those flashing things tho

know the feeling well... last week I was doing the evening walk with Giles when an old woman came out of her house to put her bin out. He went sprinting over to her wagging the tail and then decided to pop in her house searching in every room for a wee lookie to see if any more peoplz were around!!! Embarassed Rolling Eyes
