They just soooooo cute!!!!!

Is there St Bernard or similar in their lineage at some point as they do share some physical characteristics?

There are many theories about the exact origin of Clumbers but one is that they have Alpine Spaniel in their background which in turn was related indirectly to St Bernards.
They do share some St Bernard's characteristics and this is a popular theory and the dog that they are most often compared to for lineage. Certainly there is no trace of them in British history before 18th century.
There will likely never be a definitive answer although I am thinking that with all the DNA testing/ screening around, in time ancestry might well be traced through comparison with other current breeds .
