Thanks to Kendal and Allison for their patience with me and the bold boy in the car park after training today. Took your advice Kendal and reversed the car up to my Mum's front door where i could clear the bottom step and have the boot entry level with the door. Forgot to open the boot first so pulled forward opened hatch and reversed again. Stopped when my Mum shouted to reverse a little bit further and promptly the open boot gouged her wooden frame. Fortunately she has taken full responsibility. Dexter went in and out times without a problem with Kyle and me sitting in the boot. Solution found to the problem yipeee. I know it will take continued perseverance to fully solve.
Unfortunately he slipped on the paintwork on the way in the last time and the small limp that I thought had returned at the end of training has gotten decidedly worse. So short walks only again.
Please no comments about women drivers I am feeling bad enough

Sorry Dave for the confusion. I am Ann but also technophobic therefore when I originaly registered, I signed as the family not realising that was how it would come up when I was posting.
Dexter the dog has only aggravated a joint sprain that he received several weeks ago that I had thought was improving.
We have been having problems sincv we got him with him jumping into the boot and as a 30lb labrador he is getting a bit heavy for me to lift in- so Kendal and Allison were helping me with that after class today. Lots of helpful advice which has sone the light at the end of the tunnel.

how about a spring board?

ok Ann, no problem... its gets a bit confusing with families signing up lol I put voices in my head as I read the posts, especially when "Jack" was posting, suddenly the voice in my head as I read posts is more higher pitched.

Well I am opposite to technophobe, if I am offline to long I get withdrawal symptoms.

Sorry Christine, never was good with names. Had a chat with Kendal about the ramps, had not seen the stairs. Thoughts on which are more macho for a labrador. Wonder why it is a small dog pictured on the stairs? Noticed they were out of stock of the ramp. Credit crunch obviously not hit pet owners.
The things you can find Janis when you know how to search the web.
No damage to boot thanks Kendal

Hi Ann.

Not sure what is happening here. Are you doing the car tricks to help train him to go into the back of the car.

Is he not jumping into the back because he is injured or because he is unsure about it.

I have seen Dexter and I think he should have no problem getting into the back of any car.

I agree you should not be lifting a 30 lbs dog, especially when he could grow to double this size.

Jack

Jack,
he has never jumped into he car since he was little. We have always lifted him. More recently he has become increasingly shy of the car and stopped even coming close to the boot to facilitate lifting him in. Tail between legs and ears back. This led to what looked like an easy solution that caused he car to damage the house and hereafter Dexter to slip. Sure will get there in the end
Just managed he sign thing and then the next challenge comes along. The joys of dog training.
