a little bit of a dribble!

I have noticed over the last week that when I come into the house and greet Tia after being away for a little while she is very excited and tends to dribble a little! To overcome this I come into the house calmly and ensure she is relaxed before I say Hi. This works well, however it's difficult trying to train visitors to do the same thing.

Is this dribble a puppy tendency that will cease over time as she has more control?

A definate yes David - it eases with time but you need to work on your guests too. God my instinct would to be to drop to the floor and cover her with kisses if I saw her BUT I'd respect your wishes if coming into your home - well at least for 30 seconds anyway...and in case of accidents on my part I'd arrive wearing a nappy Very Happy

i too agree it is excitement in seeing you...........my advice would be to ignore her for about 2 to 3 minutes maybe more until she is calm and then go down to her level to greet her but calmly and not overexcite her! that's what we do with our dogs!

They're like blooming kangeroos and I am only 5ft tall and weigh less than 7stone so yep - they can bowl me over if they've a mind Very Happy

Oh yer 1inch taller than me! I always thought I was 5ft nothing and the height of nonsense! but apparantly when I was measured at docs yesterday Im only 4 11 Shocked

Weird - I always thought I was 4ft 11 til I got my height recorded at the docs about 10 years ago and they said I was 5ft so I must have nicked your inch Very Happy

Funny thing tho, for all my lack of stature I keep them in line no problem - must be terrified of my big gob!!!! Embarassed

Yeah Otto is prone to over exuberance when we come in - we just leave him in his crate, take shoes off, put coats away, put the kettle on THEN let him out of his crate...this does calm him down.

If he's out of his crate, he is still a bit bouncy, but he doesn't get any attention until he's calmed down a bit.

I must say, he is a bit calmer...but I doubt we will ever be greeted with nonchalance....specially not if it's tea time.

Poppy is not allowed out of the crate until she is calm when we come in.
2 Great Danes, 1 puppy, total weight currently 125kilos. Me just a wee old lady - but definitely have the gob,,, I know what you mean, Jack.
