I have been wondering about something. Different breeds of dogs have got different roaming ranges e.g a spaniel stays fairly close when free running but a pointer would go a much longer distance before stopping , when dogs are exercised in a pack and there are all different breeds what determines the roaming range? Will a spaniel follow a pointer say or vice versa or what? Is it governed by pack structure or what?
Not a personal problem, just wondering.
Thanks

serial bum sniffer Giles would follow the others but hes not exactly a working dog.

I know that if they are working dogs they will only concentrate on their owner and seek on command.

As I said over on Staffies babe I think it's very much down to individual dogs and their fitness rather than specific breeds as to who goes ahead, who lags behind and who walks to heel.

Rosie is very much a mummy's girl and needs to keep me in sight whereas Mardy Rse aka Ella would just go her own sweet way if I allowed it tearing ahead with her bruv Sykes. All that said mind they'd not be in the least happy if I was out of eyesight or more appropriately earshot Embarassed Laughing for long - they love the reassurance of knowing I am there. Smile
