Delta found a wee Magpie chick wen we were out walking on Saturday evening. it was perched on a bit of fence on the ground, she ran up to it and bounced her found paws on the wood, but the bird didn't move, i i went over and discovered that it was a wee chick. it was very scrawny. the girls were becoming more and more interested in it so i decided to put them back on lead, but as wet the pull Delta away she picked it up and dropped it a my feet, poor wee thins squawked really loud. i couldn't see a nest above where it was, and didn't want to leave it, as it was in a very open area, to be honest i was surprised something hadn't got it before.

the wee thing didn't even put up a fight when i picked it up, i was expecting it to peck like mad. but the walk home was tricky as the girls wouldn't walk properly, they kept jumping up, i had their leads in my left hand and the chick in my right held into my chest, lol then delta did a poo, so there i was standing on the leads and trying to open a poo bag with one hand lol but they were very good girls and did a nice sit stay for me.

anyway i got it home and had a proper feel at it, and it took watter from a pipette. w then took it to the wildlife rescue, who said that lots have been blown out of the nest, he said it looks smaller than it should and it was dehydrated.

i called up today to check if it had survived as any other birds we have found have died from shock before we could get them help. but this wee one is doing fine, it is now in with a group of a simile age and is snatching food from them. lol they couldn't tell exactly which one it was but its patient number was in that group so its alive and kicking lol so that has brightened up my day.

i took some photos when i got it home and when we were in the car, my we brother wanted to name it, so he called it Chick magnet lol
