Oh the poor fellow! I am sorry, but I just had to smile at the picture - it is just so cute to see him with his sore paw held up - almost child-like Smile and those eyes..... Doesn't make it less awful what happened though. Hope he heals up soon.

Don't worry about it Teresa, he thinks he is a human most of the time.

We had had nice phone call from a reporter from the Cumbernauld News today and it looks like they will be doing a story on the glass problem in Cumbernauld and will feature Franklin and a guide dog that cut it's foot on glass in Cumbernauld and caused the owner to be house bound for two weeks until it healed.

Looks like Franklin will be even more famous, I had better update his website incase they include his website int he article huh?

Maybe some good can come of this after all. Hope Franklin enjoys his time in the spotlight. If they print that picture it should melt some hearts Smile Maybe even the morons who go around causing chaos to people's (and animal's) lives.

I can just hope that one of them sees it a feels guilty and doesn't do it again but I think its unlikely.

Hopefully, the newspaper article will help. Something needs done anyway to stop this mindless behaviour.

Hiya,

It's shocking what's happened to poor Franklin, hope he's on the mend and jumping around again soon.
It's terrible the amount of broken glass lying around cumbernauld, hopefully the article with the paper will make some of these numpties think twice.

Good Luck

Laughing this is in reply to helen and andy's post.... franklin jumping about could be a scary vision... i have images of Zebedee from the magic roundabout... probably too far back for you to know who i mean lol.... however for the numpties to take notice of a newpaper notice i doubt it ... the only way they will think twice is if they were the ones with cut feet, pain and expense without the NHS .... and sadly tht is never going to happen! Sad a taste of their own medicine!

The ones responsible are probably same type of morons who think its fun to torture animals . They however are very full and knowledgable about " their rights". I see it everyday in work. I feel a lot of this is also because there seems to be no consequences for their actions. I ll get off my soap box now!!!!

Saw the article today in the Cumbernauld news.....anyone else find the response from buckfast shocking??

"were open to suggestions but plastic is not environmentally friendly. Dog owners need to watch for broken glass before letting their dog off the lead"

So what about when they cut their paws on the lead. And it's not feasible to check an entire field or park before letting ur dog off? Sounds like yet again they'll do nothing to help!!!!

PS I see franklin dyed his hair/changed a little for the photoshoot Laughing Wink

The article turned in to a sham, sure you have read it. They used a picture of another dog ever after me sending lots of great pics of Franklin.

The comments from the buckfast PR guy don't surprise me in the slightest to be honest.

You can check up on franklins progress here : http://www.franklinthedane.co.uk/update-franklin-cut-his-paw/

Things keep getting worse!!!!

Franklin has developed a really bad rash all over his body and has swollen up like a balloon. The vet says that he has probably eaten something or came in to contact with something that he has had an allergic reaction too. I dont know if this is the case as we have clairs mums dog staying with us and he has eaten and been in contact with all the same things and is totally fie. They both eat lots of grass and were sick the night before so it could be possible i guess.

We noticed chicken in franklins sick but we never give him chicken so have no idea where that came from.

We have spoken to the vet a few times tonight and he has given him a load of piritin but if that doesn't settle it within the hour we have to get him to the vet.

Oh heavens, what a rash! That looks awful. Poor Franklin - whatever next! Hope they find something to help him soon - must be really uncomfortable - between that and his paw he (and you) are having a rough time of it at the moment. Things have to look up soon Sad Strange about the chicken coming up that you never gave him Confused Hope you are feeling better this morning, Franklin.

Keep us posted on how Franklin is. Poor boy must feel terrible. At least we can talk about how we feel. It's not like you can explain to him what's going on. Get better soon Franklin!

Well he has been gradually getting better. His rash has subsided but he is still very swollen. He has been sleeping all day and is really struggling to drink without spilling it everywhere as his lips are so swollen.
