Promotion in classes

Can someone please give me a rough guide of what is expected of a dog at beginner and intermediate levels in order to be promoted?

I am presently in intermediate with Mandy and I think she is doing ok but I am working with Jodie at home and want to be clear in my mind what I should be doing.

I am hoping to bring Jodie to classes at some point in the future.

Hi Enid,

we have no hard and fast rules regarding promotion.

It is a combination of dog and handler.......if I and the other committee members on the floor think someone should move up then I will suggest a move, likewise if a handler believes that they should advance then that can be done also.

We try to have a situation when dog/handler combinations are constantly learning and refining commands..........we use the sit command in the first class and also the last but are looking for a different level of 'sit' in the later classes.......did that make sense?

I never want anyone to feel they are in the wrong class, both dogs and handlers should enjoy training and always see it as a challenge...not boring routine.

Thanks John. I think that is a much better way than laying down a strict set of commands to be attained. I guess it is a combination of confidence as well as ability.

Hi Enid.

I just have to tell you that no matter what class your in everyone including the dogs have bad days So don't panic about what they do or don't
