Guys, please can you tell me if you think I need to take him to the vet? I just am not sure what to dot!
Last night he didn't eat his dinner - this is HIGHLY unlike him, he is a 'stick face in bowl and don't surface till the last crumb is gone' dog. He was also quiet, and slept a lot, I didn't take him for an evening walk as he seemed so sleepy.
Today Paul is at home with him, and he has not touched any food at all and has been sick twice. Paul says he seems OK in himself, but I am so worried. I am supposed to be going out tonight and leaving him with my Mum, but I am terrified now that something bad is wrong with him.
Should I go to the vet with him? I don't want to be a time waster or an over fussy dog owner..this is my first own dog, and I am just so scared anything happens to him. There is no financial worry about the vet, he is insured to the absolute hilt, so if you guys think he should go I will take him!
Any thoughts appreciated, I am in a panic! |

Susan don't panic. If you are really worried take him you know your dog better than any of us! But I have had Star and Libby being off food and sick for a couple of days then pic up. Usually because they have eaten something they shouldn't have and I haven't noticed. If he is still drinking water he should be ok.
Maybe give him a day or two and see how he is, try some chicken and rice once he starts eating as this well be softer on his stomach. _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

Thanks Fiona!
I am just so panicked about it...I have not saw him, as Paul called me at work to tell me this, I just want to go home to him!
He does try to eat all the rubbish of the day, and he got the cats food again the other night, so maybe it has upset his stomach, I hope so! He also got a slice of toast yesterday morning, that is the last thing he ate!
I will cook him some chicken and rice and see if he will eat that.

If he has been sick today Susan it might be best to not feed him until tomorrow. Sometimes best to let their stomachs settle. Maybe just water tonight and chicken and rice tomorrow and see how he goes _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

yeh Susan Fiona is right just don't feed him tonight and let his tummy rest and make sure he has plenty to drink, if he doesn't pick up take him to the vet but you might find he has just eaten something that didn't agree with him. |

There is a VERY fine line between an owner being neurotic and not doing enough to get a dog to the vet in time..........unfortunately only experience can teach you that.
But is it grea tto be able to ask advice from knowledgeable friends.....and get a quick response! _________________ John Thomson
