Fiona, I posted a few weeks ago that dodge had taken a dislike to lindsay and would not even go out a walk with him. really wierd and really upset linday and I - but next day he was fine - strange, never got to the bottom of it. just the same scenario - would totally ignore lindsay but his tail would go like mad when i spoke to him. would come to me but when lindsay called it was as though he didnt exist - as i say wierd |

He now won't let Stephen take him for a walk. He has to be physically dragged out the door if I am not coming.
Stephen says he goes everywhere with him if I am not there but as soon as I come home its a nightmare for Stephen. _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

Personally I think Star is making decisions here......he has got away with it once so he assumes he will again..........and he was right..........try both of you ignoring him bit.
Pack order only works if everyone in the house plays by the rules.........you let your dog on a couch/bed and it is the start of the dogs rise in the pack..........before you know it they want to make decisions....who will I obey....why should I listen......it gets confusing for the dog when they receive mixed signals.
probably not what you wanted to hear Fiona but that's my take on it _________________ John Thomson

Otto is nearly 9 months and I'm definitely noticing the teenage behaviour. Constant whining if he isn't getting his own way, getting very excitable
All our fault - pandering to him to get him to shut up and Ian playing too rough with him. Ian also lets him "half on the sofa" to give him a cuddle. So guess what, yup minute we leave the room he's on it.
Also rather than saying "sit" I was blethering so he wasn't doing it, cos he didn't recognise "Right the roads a bit busy sit" as the command.
Must look at us sometimes and think "nutjobs"!
It's hard to be leader ALL the time - but its easy to spot when you need to get your act together. |
