Crate is in living room next to Rosie and the door is always open when he's not in it. OCCASIONALLY he will go in on his own with a toy. It seems (and I could well be wrong) that it is the being shut in that he hates or is scared of.. Last night Martin went to bed at 3.30 and left him in his crate but with the door unlatched and he knew it was unlatched and he slept right through to 8a.m. Mind you maybe the fact I rubbed some lavender oil on his crate and some drops on his collar may have had something to do with it. He has been very good today so far and they both (dogs) seem quite chilled out.

Don't know if this would help, but have you tried putting a cover over the crate? Dale loves to hide away when the cover is on.

Exercise is also a good "calmer downer". If Otto was tired he slept right through.

I agree Suzanne,

A tired puppy is a happy puppy.......they can do any damage when they are sleeping!
