He should be ok....the darker the chocolate the more cocoa and the worse it is for a dog.....you will need to find a better hiding place for your chocolate Laughing

Kerry, my Shepherd ate a chocolate orange and was totally fine. Mine was wrapped up as a xmas pressie for my husband under the tree, never thought she would open the pressies, she also ate a whole string of liquorice comfits that day and never even has a loose poo Shocked

When I was reading the liver cake thread I remembered the day when Koda was a small pup and snatched the liver cake out of my hand, I was left with the handle end of a freezer bag while the rest of the bag with the liver went straight into koda's mouth Very Happy Very Happy

What a boy!

my 2 ate every single chocolate from a full layer of thorntons chocolates
they were absolutely fine, no vomiting or diarrhoea, thankfully no fits.
they just suffered a severe tongue lashing from me and the girls-we wanted those chocolates!

Just keep an eye on him for a bit and if he looks a bit off then call the vet, but otherwise hopefully he will be fine.

Daka has ate load sof the kids chocolate, im my mums house with 7 kids from 3 -11 there are always sweeties going missing...she is always ok, but my mum hasalways kept an eye on her for a bit to make sure.

I wouldnt trust it with my lot, greyhounds and the like, have different metabolism form other dogs and it could make them ill a lot quicker on a lot less than an ordinary dog.

He should be fine....I wouldnt purposly feed a dog chocolate but I think most are ok, its just the unlucky ones it affects but there is no point in adding the risk by giving them it. them getting it by accident is a risk but as long as you watch him and I know that if he was a bit iffy you would be at the vets anyway

if it had been my chocolate he'd eaten he's have needed the vet... to remove my hand from down his throat! Very Happy

Am sure he will be OK... just keep an eye on him.

Kerry you're gonna have to make a stand and take a firm hand with those two... that kind of insubordination cannot be tolerated in the ranks Wink

Jaws ate a massive Toblerone bar when he was just a pup!!! It was nearly as big as him! I was worried sick, but he was absolutely fine, just super hyper during 24 hours. Laughing
