Yoda has found her voice and oh boy its loud. What is the practice in stopping the barking. I know it is good sometimes but it is scaring me. She started when she was upstairs people watching as she does. Then a neighbor went out in her garden. Yoda started barking bad. I am frightened to let her out in the garden in case she scares anyone. What do you all think? |

Mishka started barking and forgot to stop for a while We just tried to be close by and made her lie down. We then made a shh noise everytime she barked until it became less and less. She does still bark at noises etc but remembers to stop now |

The key to this is re directing the dogs attention............shaking a can with pebbles in it.........or spraying her with water............whatever stops the unwanted behavior.................. _________________ John Thomson

Amanda to start with just simply bring her in each time she starts barking, tell her NO! it may work, she may corner on, and realize every time she does it, you wont let her out! remember and only correct for right circumstance, its okay for them to bark at times! _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |

Must be an age thing Amanda, Hektor barking at EVERYTHING at the moment! Making him lie down if in the house, or to come in if if the garden, never had a barker before, new territory for me too! |

my Kiera's a barker too, generally garden related such as cats and certain people who walk by the fence, as soon as she starts she gets brought back in the house, inside the house it is generally anything outside the front door chapping and car horns tooting What work with her is a low but stern quiet if she doesn't stop quickly. |
