Can dogs develop brown discoloured areas on their skin for no apparent reason? I have found about three on his tummy which I think I'm going to have to get checked out. He is licking the area a bit but it is that area that male dogs love licking anyway Smile . There is also a purplish looking mark there , perhaps he's been nibbling at it?

I don,t know about a brown mark. I do know that if a dog has a cut or something and keeps licking the area it will discolour the fur, but its normally a pinky red colour! No idea about the purple mark!

gypsy gets that, dont know why but when removed the hair from her tummy (she has very fine hair that knots easy) they went away after like a day or two

they don't appear to have come back.

Ooops.

Need to put my glasses on. Thought this said Ski Lessons. Embarassed Embarassed

I would only take our dogs to the vet if I was worried about a lesions.

If it has just developed I would leave it a day or so to see what happens.

But you will know your dog better than anyone and you will know when it needs checked out.

Jack

Turns out it is a skin infection so for the next few days no more romping through long grass plus special shampoo for daily baths (thankfully just his tummy!) for about 5 days. Can't see either of us enjoying either of those recommendations! Sad .
Jack those ski lessons are sounding more appealing by the minute! Laughing Laughing

Charlene's dog Tina is suffering from the same thing at the moment.
Glad it isn't serious.
