To continue the theme of ill dogs....Otto took on a stick in the woods on Saturday and lost.
Ian didn't see what happened, he was tear ar$ing it through the woods playing with some dogs and tore a 2 inch square bit of skin right back
Looked worse than it was, but he had to get knocked out so the vet could staple him back together. so he shouldn't be left with a bald patch or too much scarring. But Elizabethan collar on - which he objects to much more than the staples.
And no off the lead running for 10 days - while on lead walking and upteem games of "find it" might get us to Thursday, I think by the weekend it will be speedways round the living room and much bad behaviour.
Still could have been worse. |

He has incredible powers of recovery, he was back to normal by yesterday morning - only minus his 2 long weekend walks that deplete enough energy to see him through the week with shorter or on lead walks.
He's already doing speedways, which considering the wound is still weeping a bit, is not good. So I'll be working from home for a couple of days to keep an eye on him.
And he's been in our room for 2 nights cos he can't go in his crate with the collar on and to keep an eye on him after the drugs - so he'll be a right sod by Saturday. Though he's in the kitchen tonight as he wakes us up on the hour every hour from 4 am to check if it's morning yet. |

Sorry to hear this but I know he will be back to normal in no time.
Diesel has had a similar injury when a flap of skin was pulled back on his face.............6 stitches but you don't see it at all now. _________________ John Thomson

It looks a bit gruesome as he/s been shaved and stapled....so he's either a punk or Frankendog. But it is just a flesh wound, didn't puncture him in anyway thankfully - that's my big fear.
I am very squeamish so sat in the waiting room, and can just about dab the wound with salty water. |

Poor big guy! and poor you.
Dodge could not go out for nearly two weeks when he cut his paw....by the end of it he was lunging himself at the front door when bob and I went out for a walk...they hate it.
Hope you all survive _________________ "In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog." |

Ive already had to stop him racing round the garden and doing a time trial between the living room and dining room. And it's only day 2!!
The bike is great for exercising him, but if anything it's raised his fitness and energy levels so expectation is high.
Will just have to find some really hard places to hide his bone as he's too good at "find it" - but does tire him out. |

He's keeping us awake - because he's not in his crate, he's not settling. Initially he was in with us, but he kept licking his collar or us, so was turfed out into the hall, and was banging it against the bannister.
Poor boy.
And the excess energy is starting to show - he's getting walked, but alas he needs to run. Even just for 15 mins in the week.
The wound seems fine though - but leave him for 2 secs and he's at it. |

Who'd have thought a flesh wound could cause such a fuss.
I doubt even kids get that much attention when the get stitches! |
