Thought you may like to see the pics from the annual Mastini show in Edinburgh, there was a lovely selection of breeds there from bulldogs to dogue de bordeaux and everything in between. We even had a shot at lure racing after the event and the dogs had great fun, was a good day for us with Cassy winning the best Stafford female second year in a row..not bad for a five year old beating younger bitches in the fitness stakes, the turnout was very good and all the dogs behaved impeccably it was in a park and we had lots of interested folk quite impressed with the various bull and mastiff types on show.

Thanks John, thats my friends pup he's 8 months they live just beside us. He's a fantastic pup but what I'd call brain dead - completley stupid lol
Thanks for the nice comments about Cass, she's put some weight back on now I dont keep her at that for more than a week or so, lots of hours spent getting there but well worth it.
I agree about the Borboel, this guy said they had the first two in Scotland. The male was stunning, they have a female also, they said for his breed he is fairly small compared to others and slightly longer in the muzzle. Very impressive, I was more impressed at the speed in which he could move. He rivalled many of the smaller dogs. That blue dog Pup has beaten some running dogs times around greyhound tracks in England I believe.
I took these just the week before the show, white dogs always look better in the shade.

Here are the last few of the lure racing, they came up from England specially. We have managed to persuade them to return, we found the land so they bring the equipment. All breeds welcome if anybod is interested let me know, its a fun day out the dogs can be run together or seperatley.

Yes he's lovely, there cant be many up here. They have a lovely air about them, the one I met was quite guardy but friendly when you came over. Lovely rich red too.
Have you ever met the Cane Corso that walks up the glen? Similar type of dog but leaner, not unlike a neo without the excess flesh. He's docked and fawn with a black mask, stunning dog but a handful must be around 3 or so now... |

we met the Cane when we were in a large group and the owner panicked when he saw such a large group coming towards him............most people who go round the Glen now know that the 'pack' is calm and stable therefore no threat to other dogs............great to see _________________ John Thomson

Its been a few years since I saw him he was young then and a handful but a real stunner, I think the breed can be quite dominant and has aggressive tendencies. I know somebody who owns one and Staffords and its very soft but not for the faint hearted just like the borboels.
All of these types hold more than a passing interest for me, there was a guy in Edinburgh at the show with some Presa Canario's (canary dog), again a similar type of dog but definitely one that requires an experienced handler. Great to see though, I liked the Dogues, very placid and laid back big dogs. |
