After 4 weeks of rest for Millie after hurting her leg I was hoping to start May as I meant to go on and get Millie back to class on Sunday.

Plan scuppered again, she has started her first season this morning Confused

This will be a new experience for me as she is the first bitch I have had. At the moment there's just some spotting on the floor, not too bad and easily cleaned.

How bad will it get?
I am expecting 3 weeks roughly...
I have heard that some people put nappies on them or get special pad thingies...?
I will still be walking her (on lead at all times obviously!) but I suppose I should be avoiding other dogs in case she drives them mad with desire Laughing (well she IS very pretty...in our eyes at least!)

Any tips anyone?

Lisa

Poor wee thing........

Hopefully spotting will be as bad as it gets, for most of the season she will not entertain a dog.might even be aggressive towards them but for 2 days she will be inclined to throw herself at anything male and 4 legged! She may also want to run away to find a willing dog at this point........although by this time Hektor will be trying to break the doors down to get to her.

don't say that!!! Not even funny... Our house could have more of an open plan feel sooner than I'd have wanted!!

Thankfully Hektor is castrated....he'll not still be interested will he?

i was talking to someone just recently. she has a castrated male cockapoo and an intact female cavapoo(who is Echos double)

she found that he had tried to mate with her and the ended up tied for a couple of minuets in the garden. he had never shown an interest in females before. lol so i would still keep an eye on big Hek.

this is what she posted

Quote:
AS some of you know Milly my Cavapoo is on her first season. ( she will be spayed 3 months after finishing) and up till now her and my Cockapoo boy Monty ( neutered) have done a bit of humping but nothing major and easy to separate.

I was washing up and they were in garden then I heard her scream and saw Monty " humping" I called out for him to stop which he normally does but this time he didn't! so went out to stop them and found they had " tied"

OMG it was awful both looked so upset and bewilldered

Luckily she let him go after a few minutes the little hussy.

So need to be extra vigilant now, Up till now he has never really been overly bothered by females.

Hubby was beside himself well she is our baby girl and big brother has been naughty, though I reckon she entinced him!!
