Bringing my wee man Rudy to class tonight.
He's a bit lacking in confidence and is barking at SOME people and SOME dogs. Lady at the vets came to clap him and he retreated right under the chair and barked at her. Out on walks his hackles go up and he barks - not at everyone though, so some things he's fine with.
He went nuts at a dog who tried to take a stick off him. bit of a shock for us as our older dog Otto takes everything in his stride. His heart rate doesn't even go up at the vets!
Our fault because we didn't take Rudy to class enough when he was wee like we did with Otto -was difficult to find the time then - and I think he missed out on the socialisation.
Hopefully it's not too late. Rudy's fine with people coming to the house, but he needs some work outside the house. Don't want him getting worse! |

Hope you check the forum again before you leave tonight since as far as I know thats class over for July period. Starts back in August. (Totally lost with what to do with my Thurs night lol!)
The walks are still running as usual though. The group class walk on Sundays if the weathers nice should be still on leaving cumbernauld house at Im assuming same time as always quartre to 4. Tuesday shorter walks will still be running leaving cumbernauld house at 7. And the power walks should still be on tuesdays and wednesdays usually meet at quartre to leaving at 7 from various locations, Michael posts details every week. _________________ http://www.justgiving.com/Laura-Anne-Innes Please support our cause. We took him down to Kilwinnoch with us on Saturday and he was running about in a new area with loads of people and dogs, he was in a pub and in a house full of strangers and he was fine. Wee kid he'd never met before was cuddling him.
I don't know what sets him off - it's quite random on the surface but he's used to people the same age as me and Ian and kids. He loves my mum, but didn't like the grey haired lady in the vets...though she was looming over him and was in his face and last time he was there he got a fright when the vet's huge GSD puppy escaped and went for a dog in an elizabethan collar and the vet gave the pup laldy.
so I don't think its greyhaired women he's afraid of, it's probably to do with that incident. |
