I was caravaning a couple of years ago and found a tick on one of the boys, had tweezers but no surgical spirits so I used nail varnish remover it worked though looking back probably not the smartist thing but didnt want to leave it on him,

I'm not saying that the NHS is god's gift to humanity when it comes to quality, but I can say that all info is research based (as far as relevant research is available).

This is the recommended way to deal with them...

How to prevent Lyme Disease

You did the right thing by just removing it.. no need for anything else than set of tweezers, or preferably a tick twister.

Sheryl I yanked one out of Murphy's neck this afternoon .............. there's nothing to it. It takes 2 seconds and no mess whatsoever, no site of blood no nothing. It's like flicking a rice krispie off! Very Happy

Im with you there sheryl yuck yuck - couldnt do it.

I was saying in a previous post that my family are scottish hillbillies - my aunt and uncle were Forestry workers in Argyle and they actually used to get ticks - God they would need to sedate me If I found one of them on me Shocked

the just used to hold a cigarette to them and the little b@ggers soon let go.

Allans friend Tam is the tick remover around here, everyone went to him with their dogs and one day he had one himself, right in the middle of his back Very Happy where he couldnt get it off. Laughing

The first one my dogs get and it will be either Tam or Marcella to the rescue Very Happy
