The Smiddy is much better than Broadwood Farm ........... they serve food until 8pm. Is it pub grub you are after?

The Black Bull in the village always did nice home cooked food, not sure what time they serve until.

Broadwood Farm, The Craigmarloch Lodge, The Beefeater etc .......... they are all franchises, the food isn't homemade. Same with the Red Deer.

What about the Coachman in Kilsyth?

Clive Ramsay at Bannockburn is good.

Its at the Brucefields golf range just off the roundabout, can give better instructions if you are interested.

Agreed.. food was really good. Drive there was a bit 'scenic' Confused I think the mother-in-law was beginning to wonder if there was a spade in the boot.

First time I've been on that road, will have to go back. Some nice spots for photography Very Happy

Brenda, Smiddy Inn was great when I was there before.. will definitely go back there too. You can tell the standard of a place by its steak and ale pie... I have it whenever available Cool

the underwood lochhouse in bonnybridge is also great, mostly indian, quite fancy inside but lovely. also has courtesy bus which will pick you and drop you off at home. nice idea as theres a lovely pub upstairs, very modern.

Stuart, that was the Tak Ma Doon Road I assume? Very Happy When we all drove up there to do our walk last week you'll never guess what we saw heading downhill......................... an old guy in an electric wheelchair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shocked Seriously, he was heading downhill going around a corner literally on 2 wheels. I have never laughed so much in ages. Seemed the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Where the heck did he come from I wonder, how did he get up there into the middle of nowhere?

Glad your meal was good, never been in there (dog friendly pub too if I'm right) must give it a try! Very Happy
