Just thought I would post and tell you what a difference the magnetic collar has made to Jake!
Its amazing! Even with taking the pain killers he still had a slight limp but with the collar you couldn't tell he had anything wrong
Obviously he still needs to keep up the vet visits and see his specialist in December but what a difference the collar has made for him!
I spoke with Andrew Miller (the specialist) who when I told him I was getting him the collar asked me to call him back next week with a update. Andrew had actually told me to keep him as mobile as possible with out over doing it or allowing him to run riot ( ok run riot are my words not his ). Something I wasn't happy to do while he was still limping. As if his leg seizes he will need alot of physio after the op if he needs one. Apparently its better to keep the leg muscles active, obviously still restricted.
He is still on his solo limited walks and crated for around 15/18 hours a day but hoping we can reduce his crate time soon.
Will keep you updated _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

Very similar to the results we had with a magnetic collar when Diesel had elbow dysplacia (he still wears it )
Great news for you both Fiona...........I hope it continues. _________________ John Thomson

that's brilliant Fiona! I know I had gone on a bit about how much a difference it had made to Diesel, but it really was astounding! I'm delighted it appears to be helping Jake too you can get him out walking a bit more regular now and keep those joints moving.
Since Diesel first wore his we gradually built up his exercise and look at him now, he'll go anywhere, even to the top of Ben Lomond!!!
Great news, I'm really pleased for the wee boy................ Just don't EVER take it off! |

That's great news Fiona, i've heard of these collars really helping dogs. I've also heard the magnetic bracelets and things you get for humans who have arthritis can be beneficial too. Hope Jake continues to improve. |

Out of interest I took Jake totally off his pain killers to see just how much the collar was helping and to my amazement he still isn't limping
That's been 3 full days off the pain killers now. Long may it continue! _________________ Dogs are like Chocolate, you just can't have one! |

That's great news Fiona - hope that Jake continues to improve. Can't help with the eyes, Jack has dry eye and his eyes run most of the time but I think that's the Optimmune and Hypromellose he has. Before he was diagnosed with dry eye he used to get gunky eyes. _________________ No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does - Christopher Morley |
