Today after we had walked the dogs, we decided to stop off at the roll van in St Maurices pond area, The BMX park

parked the car about 100 yards from the van, left the two dogs in the back of the estate with the tailgate open cause it was boiling hot. As we approached the van there were about 8 men standing about eating rolls, milling about.

Collectively they were all commenting on 'OUR WELL TRAINED DOGS' - yes, this is Dodge and Bob we are talking about here.

I was praying inside that they wouldn't move!!! - they stayed stock still until our rolls and bacon were ready and we started to eat. Big Bob, he is soooo food motivated, he did come ambling over but was sent back to the tailgate with a voice command, jumped in and stood still till we got back to the car!!!!

Some of you may be thinking - so what? this is what I would expect my dog to do! but to us this was incredible that people actually commented on how well trained our dogs were, and that we feel confident enough in them to leave them like that -. They were such good boys and my heart was ready to explode I was so proud of them. The are both rescue dogs and Dodge in particular was difficult, he totally ignored any command for months. The classes are paying off, he may not be perfectly trained but he actually listens to me and does what he is told - most of the time lol.

Just had to share it!!!

that is fantastic you should be proud, i still wouldn't completely trust our two not to get out but at least they stay when we open the door and don't try to jump out to soon. Laughing

It's so good seeing how relaxed you are when out with the "boys". It is also nice to them just standing about outside the house when you are at the car etc.

Bet you never thought they would turn out like that!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Laughing Laughing Laughing

Great Kirsty,

It is a great feeling when strangers make comments like that Very Happy

You just know that had they not thought the dogs were completely under control they would have been nervous!

For a while you have needed this.....it's one thing when friends tell you your dogs are working well...........but complete strangers are different, you know they mean it!.

I still doubt my two.........when people comment 'nice dogs mate, do you want to train my dog' in my head I am saying..........this is Diesel who is a lunatic!

You are right to be proud, let your confidence and authority build after this.........it will only get better
