Thanks Marcella. You made me feel better knowing a GSD is scared of snowmen too. Guess that has to improve Basil's street cred. _________________ Regards,

I am lost on this one Lorna.you can't get a snowman to offer treats and be his friend
The only thing I can think of is to slowly get closer while positively reinforcing the situation using your voice and perhaps treats.........
My first GSD destroyed everyone he saw...........not angry , he just loved doing it. You couldn't roll a large snowball for him jumping on it ! _________________ John Thomson

I tried the approaching slowly, speaking gently and offering treats. No way! When I moved and he couldn't hide behind me, he just did a detour round half the park to get to the other side of the park at the top of the glen where he stood and waited for me.
On the way back up I deliberately walked him towards the path which passed the snowmen. He ran off on another detour via the bottom of the park and round the side to wait for me again at the end of the path away from the snowmen.
I am sure that if they lasted longer we could eventually persuade him to approach them. This is what happened with all men, bins, white vans, other dogs, cats, squirrels, some birds, even treats. So he has really come a long way in a year. We will keep improving with your help at classes.
Thanks for your help. _________________ Regards,
