That's what I thought Brenda. I was a bit taken aback by her response. However she agreed to do it and he is booked in for the 15th Feb. OUCH!

That is weird as most vets will agree that if not breeding then it is better to have them spayed or neutered

We explained that Jack can be a bit hyper at times and sometimes jumps at us for no reason. She thinks that he is just nervous and neutering may not change his behaviour in any way.

When i got Kaiser done the vet told me that sometimes it dose not work. It takes about three months. The best thing i done could you image what he would be like. " Double trouble". I also had another dog done it calmed him down what a difference it made to him.

Behaviour therapy i.e. mega bucks before you then shell out for neutering!!!!!!!!!
I DON'T THINK SO!
Apart from behaviour, there are health advantages to having your dog neutered.
Go tell them you want him done and ignore her drivel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that the general consensus it that there are health benefits for a dog to be castrated if he is not going to be used as a stud dog.
I know that some dogs do not show a marked difference but most over a period of time do...the testosterone level slowly drops after the op.

I believe that the advice on our forum is easily the equal of any behaviorist....maybe Cesar Milan excepted Laughing
Jack has already shown a marked difference using pack order and various techniques.......I agree that the snip is a sensible option Alison.

Yes, he's getting done on the 15th of Feb. It certainly can't do any harm and may help him. Everyone I have spoken to talks about the benefits. I was so taken aback by her response.

I am just wondering who your vet is that she gives such strange advice?

Well.......there is a train of thought that suggests that she is only there because her husbands name is above the door...allegedly.
oh an it is also alleged that he is chairman of the SSPCA this year and gets an £80,000 salary for this.......then after everyone else is paid if there is any money left it gets spent on the animals!

Incidentally did she suggest a particular behaviorist?

Is she on a percentage? She suggested one to me when Misty was hyper. Misty just needed to readjust to new pack order.
