Even though me & Rusty can't come to classes anymore I am keeping up his training and he is doing really well
But if I do recall in the garden or house he is fine, but outside if anybody or anything walks by he is off. If he is off leash on a walk he is fine, it is just when we are practicing training
Anybody got any ideas ? |

Try him on a long line outside. It will get him used to you having control and yet he makes the decision to come. _________________ Regards,

Arlene my answer would be exactly what Lorna suggested.........you don't even have to buy a long line..........a long strong piece of garden twine ( string) will do the job just as well _________________ John Thomson

Worked for us.....one tip though, leave it on for a wee while after you think they've learned it. and stick it back on if the recall goes dodgy.
We never had any bother with it out in the wilds, he just ran along with it trailing behind him. He doesn't know he's not attached.
Just step on it and do the recall, if it still doesn't do it, reel him in and reward. And if you see a distraction coming up, grab the line to give 100% control.
Took a few months, he doesn't need it now. |
