Tikka's nut

As you do, being playing about with Tikka tonight and she has a hard cyst like bit in line or slightly lower on her head! I know in some Rotts it takes a bit of time for their head to fully mature and flatten, but this doesn't feel like its attached to the skull? I,m thinking its one of a possible few things;

1. We have a low coffee tbl and x legs on our dining tbl. On each of these she constantly raps her nut on these, may just be a lump bruise because of this?

2. A foreign body, like a thorn, twig from diving about Glen and may have just went underneath the skin, this also may then could include a tick? But do these then make a small lump?

3. A small cyst? which i really hope it is not!

It is only about as big as say a cadburys taster? I.E smaller than a malteeser! Confused

if it was a 'foreign body' it would most likely be uncomfortable to touch.........my two sometimes get a blocked pore......it fills up with grease and can be squeezed and emptied like a spot...not dangerous though........hope it turns out Ok Barry

It does not seem to hurt when i touch it, have tried seeing if i can see the skin where it is to see if there is an entry mark or suchlike, not discovered as yet! Don't want to play about with it too much in case it is a small cyst, does anyone know can they just lance this if it is, althou i'd imagine they would want to check to see the cause and what it contains before lancing or such like? I,m getting worried now! Confused

Just thought, it could be her microchip it isn't on top of her head lower down at top of back of neck!? Pretty sure her microchip was put in slightly lower down thou? Does anyone know if they can move at all?

Take her to the vet and see what they say.

I dont think the microchips can move about, can they? I'd imagine that connective tissue will have formed round it, preventing it from moving around?

As far as I am aware, the microchip can move and can move a good distance from where it was originally inserted.

It is located in line with say the middle of her ears at top back of neck, just down at base bottom of back of head? That make sense? Confused

Barry it could be her microchip1 I only know cos having horses you can feel it so maybe that's what it is!

We could feel the chip in one of our dogs. But it is small, the size of a largish grain of rice, and tends to be closer to the shoulder blades. I know it can move though, but I wouldnt imagine a great deal.

I would think most chips would migrate downwards but it could be poss, I would think its prob a knock or thorn, x

Hope Tikka's OK.
My old Boxer has a small lump (malteser size) high on his neck where his microchip 'migrated' to. Its been there for about 3 years and has never changed size or been painful.
If you're really worried the vet will probably just insert a fine needle into the lump and draw out some of the stuff to see what it is.

I definitely know how worried you must be!

Has she had any injections recently as it could be a swelling at the site of the injection due to a mild reaction to it? If you are worried a quick trip to the vet would put your minds at rest. It's most likely something very simple and innocent. Good luck and try not to worry. Smile
