Hello,

I'm Nicola and have two dogs. A Westie, called Molly who is almost 4 years old, and a crossbreed (I actually prefer the term multi-pedigree Laughing ), called Roxy who is around 7 years old.

I have been attending obedience classes with Molly since she was 7 months old and started obedience classes with Roxy as soon as we got her.

I started agility training with Molly when she was just over a year old. She does very well at agility and we're now about to start competing. Our first official show is next month at SKC. Smile The main reason I want to compete with my Westie is not to win, but to show people what Westies and small dogs in general are capable of, with a bit of hard work and consistancy. Of course, a win or two would be good!

I've also started agility with Roxy who is gradually improving, the only thing we really have to work on are the weave poles, but we will get there in time, i'm sure. Smile

We also enjoy going to Companion dogs shows, it gets us all out the house for a lovely day out, and the dogs get a day of socialising with dogs they don't know, which is always a good thing! Very Happy

I came across thing forum after a friend of mine told me about it. I had thought about joining last week but wasn't sure if I could as I wasn't local to you lot! However, a lot of the topics on this board interest me a lot and it's always good to chat to other dog owners about similar things!

Hope to chat to you all soon.

I'll get some photos posted soon.

Nicola, Molly and Roxy. (Also known as Molly Mischief and Roxy Rascal!). Woof!

Great to have you on board Nicola........thanks for taking the time to register.

Where do you train you dogs.........quite a few of us are keen to try agility even if it is only ourselves for fun so your input will be very welcome.........I have been scouring the net looking for agility equipment self build plans but think I'll simply by a book of the..............although we do have a flyball machine which is good fun.

Thanks for the welcome. Smile

I attend my local club in Greenock, although i'm taking a break from obedience just now. We currently train at Gourock Park in Greenock on Sunday afternoons, from 1pm till 3pm. There is also flyball from around 3.15pm onwards, I don't do that though, I much prefer agility! Smile

You are all very welcome to join us on Sundays. Smile

I started agility just for fun too, I didn't think my Westie would ever 'get it', bit I persevered and one day it just clicked and she 'got it'! I was chuffed to bits that day, I can tell you! She has been improving ever since.

Word of warning though....it is addictive! (and great fun!). Laughing

If you just want to do it for fun, that's great! As long as you all have fun, dogs and all!

Sometimes the dogs just love to show me up though, especially the multi-pedigree. Rolling Eyes They still enjoy themselves though ! Laughing

It sounds like most dogs love showing their owners up at times! Laughing

Both of my dogs are actually very well behaved. Molly can get a bit bossy with Roxy though if she jumps up on people! Roxy jumping up is the only problem I have with her, she is just so friendly and sociable, she is the best natured wee dog and we are blessed to have found her.

Kendal,

Keep at it. Smile

It's taken me a long time, about a year, before my Westie was competent at the weave poles off lead. It's great when they eventually do get the hang of it though. Smile

Hi Shirley,

Thank you. Smile Your lot sound fab! We have a couple of lurchers at agility.

Yes, please do come along and say hello! Would be nice to meet you all, and of course, the dogs. If possible, you could perhaps hire a minbus or something to take you all here, rather than everyone come individually? Just a thought. Of course you could all come on your own.

It was only a suggestion! Laughing You do get extended minibusses! Perhaps they are just called small busses though. Confused Laughing
